The Scottish wildcat is the UK’s only native feline. Larger than a domestic cat, it has longer legs, a larger skull and is more robust and muscular in appearance. They are solitary animals only coming together to mate. Their genetic purity has, over many years, become diluted through breeding with their feral, domestic counterparts.
Since 2011, Aigas Field Centre in Beauly, Scotland has been contributing to an important national programme to bring the Scottish wildcat back from the brink of extinction.
The remarkable Linnhe is a captive male living at Beauly.
